Did you know your body’s largest organ is your skin?!
So when we talk about physical health, our skin is an enormous part of that equation. We do so many things to keep our skin looking great: expensive body lotion and oils, facials, massages, putting on makeup…
But *the best* thing we can do for our skin is protect it from the sun, especially during the summer months when we spend more time outside soaking up those rays, baby!
Here are some FIERCE tips to protect your skin this summer:

Find a sunscreen you love, and use it all year long.
- Whether it is a mineral sunscreen or a chemical sunscreen, find one you love, and put it on everyday.
- I love CeraVe and Elta-MD, but as long as YOU love it, wear it, and it’s not expired, any sunscreen is better than none.
- If you need help finding a new favorite, check out EWG’s list of Best Recreational Sunscreens. This list is gold if you’re looking to eliminate the addition of harmful chemicals and keep you and your family safe in the sun this summer!

Check those expiration dates.
- If you’re like me and store all of your sunscreen in your beach bag, it might be time to take a peek at those expiration labels!
- The efficacy of sunscreen breaks down dramatically after a year, so you won’t get the protection promoted on the bottle.
- Repurchase and use it all up before the end of summer!

How much is enough?
- Make sure you’re using ENOUGH sunscreen.
- For your face, that’s ¼ of a teaspoon or you can use the “two-finger” method.
- To try this technique, simply squeeze the product in two separate lines on your pointer and middle finger and make sure you’re using at least 30 SPF.
- For your body, you should use an ounce or a shot glass full of sunscreen.

When in doubt, cover it up!
- A hat, sunglasses, and dark clothing can be your best friend in the summer months.
- Rock your favorite baseball cap or floppy beach hat, break out the movie-star sunglasses, and opt for darker clothing or clothing with sunproection.
- Spend some time under the umbrella at the pool or beach or maybe add a fun rash guard to your summer beach look.

Enjoy the sun this summer, just do it safely! And while looking cute of course in your hat and sunglasses!
Make this the summer you build sun safety into your and your family’s routines. Your skin will thank you for years to come!
