Giving to YOU

The holiday season is almost behind us… the presents have been opened, the meals have been cooked and served, memories have been made. 

As you reflect on the holidays, I’m sure you remembered to give to everyone on your list. But what about giving to yourself? Remember that person?

It’s easy, especially in hectic and busy moments, to put ourselves on the backburner. Maybe you had to let a few things slide these last few weeks to get it all done. And that’s okay, especially if it meant getting to savor and enjoy precious time with family and celebrating big and happy moments. If you’ve found yourself on the bottom of your gift giving list, it’s not too late! 

Maybe this seems contrary to the spirit of giving, but as the saying goes, you can’t pour from an empty cup. In order to give at your fullest potential, you’ve got to nourish your body, your mind, and your soul.

In the FIERCE life, that means we focus on daily movement, nourishing yet satisfying meals, and practicing mindfulness. You have to start by giving yourself the love and appreciation you deserve so you can do the same for others... you know... the whole "put your oxygen mask on first" thing.

Don’t forget about yourself this holiday season! I hope you give yourself permission to put yourself and your needs at the top of your list, especially as we head into a new year where you can be dedicated to showing up for yourself each and every day.

It's not selfish, it's necessary.
