Bookending Our Days
It's our last Tuesday in January
And, it's going to be the best one.
"How?", you ask?
By learning to bookend our days with mindful morning & nighttime routines to create productive, complete, and fulfilling daily experiences. That's how!
In today's F.I.E.R.C.E. Life message, we are digging into what to do before we hit the proverbial "hay" so we s et ourselves up for restful sleep and wake-up ready to seize the day!
"End your day with a smile ,
A happy thought,
And a grateful heart."
Clint Walker
How do you feel this morning?
Relaxed and ready for the day?
Rushed after a few snooze hits?
Or, perhaps somewhere in between ?
If you could describe your morning mood as a movie title , what would it be?
As a [self-proclaimed] movie buff, I actually love to use movie titles as analogies to characterize pretty much any part of my life.
Let's give it a try!
Which title sums up your AM attitude:
- The Hangover
- Little Miss Sunshine
- Fast and Furious
What about your typical PM mood:
- Sleepless in Seattle
- One Flew Over the Cuckoos' Nest
- Life is Beautiful
No matter which title hits home today, we can ALL experience more Little Miss Sunshine and a little less Sleepless in Seattle with just a few simple tips.
5 Ideas for a Calming Night Routine:
- Turn off electronics 30 minutes before bed
- It takes at least 30 minutes for our brains to wind down after using backlit technology such as smart phones, tablets, t.v.s, & computers
- You can read, practice breathing , or talk instead
- Sip caffeine-free, herbal tea
- This signals the body to relax & aids in digestion after dinner
- Try peppermint, valerian, ginger, turmeric, & chamomile teas
- Practice Gratitude
- Just writing down your favorite part of the day can relax your mind
- Checkout my favorite gratitude app here!
- Ask, "What excites me about tomorrow?"
- And, write it down.
- Shifting our mindset into abundance versus lack allows our brains to see a day of opportunity instead of an endless to-do list.
- Practice Restorative Yoga
Just practicing ONE of these ideas has the power to change your overall experience immediately.
I'd love to know what your one thing is!
Believing in YOU,
